David Shapiro (1916–2005) was an American painter and lithographer. Born on August 28, 1916, in New York City to Jacob and Ida (Katz) Shapiro, he began his artistic education at the Ednl. Alliance Art School from 1933-1935 and continued at the American Artists School from 1936-1939. As an artist, Shapiro's work moves in two parallel streams: graphic woodcuts of social conscience and color paintings and lithographs that evoke his enjoyment of nature.
